Cristiano Ronaldo got his second spell as a Manchester United player off to an excellent start last weekend as he netted twice in a 4-1 win against Newcastle United, but the Red Devils‘ attention has now turned towards the Champions League ahead of their group-stage opener away at Young Boys on Tuesday evening (17:45 BST). In this live blog, we’ll be covering the build-up to the match in Switzerland and the game itself.

16:20 BST: Cristiano Ronaldo’s influence at Manchester United
Cristiano Ronaldo has already shown his impact on the pitch for Manchester United after scoring a brace against Newcastle on his second debut from the club, but just a matter of weeks after rejoining the club he is affecting things when it comes to his teammates’ eating habits.
“To give you one instance of the impact he is having on the group, this was Friday night in the hotel,” goalkeeper Lee Grant told Talksport.
“So, as you guys will be aware, you finish your dinner and usually on a Friday night you’ve got some cheat stuff out. You’ve got some apple crumble and custard or you’ve got a bit of brownie and cream. I tell you now, not one player touched the apple crumble and custard, not one player went up for that brownie, because everybody was sat down.
“One of the lads said to me, ‘What has Cristiano got on his plate?’ Obviously it is the cleanest, most healthy plate you can imagine: quinoa, avocado and a couple of boiled eggs. This guy is in incredible shape.”
